Daily Warm up.

How does power create conflict in the novel?

In Mary Shelley's "Frankestein", power is one of the main subjects. The power that Victor seems to obtain by creating his monster, the monster's apparent power over Victor (in relation to the deaths of his loved ones) and just the overall theme is consumed by power. In the story, there are several conflicts that are present in the story. In relation to Victor, it is an example of Man Vs Self, an internal conflict.

Daily warm up: Big question

The idea that power corrupts has been a largely imposed mindset that is almost always correct. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" looking at historical events, this idea has been present for many ages. So what the quote "power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men'  means in simple terms is that no matter who you are, power will turn into greed. Almost all men who are seen as great through history were corrupt in one way or another.

Daily Warm Up: Designer Babies?

If I were to be able to choose all of the genetic traits of my child, I would want them to be extremely smart. I would want my child to have dark blue or grey eyes, dark curly hair, and a perfect smile (Which I do not have) However, I do not think designer babies are a good thing. I believe that all babies are meant to look like their parents. I believe that designer babies should only be tolerated when there is a chance that the baby will be born with some sort of detrimental illness (Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, or Down Syndrome). The idea of designer babies should only be allowed in these instances.

Daily Warm-Up

Can others know you better than you know yourself?

We tend to be blind to the cruel light of objectivity. It is a natural tendency to believe that we know ourselves better than anyone, but we always hear "I know you better than you know yourself". This can be true because we don't see the harsh reality, we don't see ourselves as anything but. It is possible for someone to know you better because we tend to shut out any negativity. We don't wan to believe in anything we don't see. To someone, you can be the most talkative person in the world, but you may see yourself as a quiet soul.

Daily Warm Up

Is it better to not know some secrets?

Some secrets are not worth knowing, this is mainly due to the fact that some secrets can hurt. Is it better to be hurt by a secret, or to not know it at all? No, stay ignorant to the things that do not involve you. There are two kinds of people; the one who tells, and the one who holds. The teller is usually the person the secret relates to, and the holder is usually a close friend/relative. Sometimes, the holder loses their grip and the secret spills to the wrong person. This can hurt the teller. Sometimes it is better to not know a secret at all.
